Interview with JR Ang, marketing director for The Manila International Auto Show 2011

 
The Manila International Auto Show 2011 (MIAS) is the most anticipated car event every year, my life changed when I got introduced to many kinds of car and my interest in car style and brands went more beyond my perspective. I have an interview with JR Ang, the marketing director for the auto show, he told me lots of new things for the show this year and their plans for the coming years, read my interview below

How many years we have this auto show?
JR: – We’ve been doing the auto show for around 7 year already and this is the 1st time we occupied 3 venues - the World Trade Center, the tent and the PTCC.

What is the basic formula that MIAS is always successful every year?
JR: - Every year we put something new or something different, like for this year, we incorporated the new venue that for customized cars, the past year, we tried to segmentize our products, just like now we have different cars like hybrid, electric cars and other new launch cars here at the auto show.

What's the theme of today for MIAS?
JR- Our theme today is about automotive evolution, we're trying to promote hybrid cars, means that cars with half fuel efficiency rating and are eco friendly, we also have electric cars that in the long run might be a trend.

How many electric cars we have at the auto show?
JR: - We have Chery for electric cars, while for hybrid cars, some car companies have 1 to 2 kinds of hybrid cars already here at the auto show.

Are we ready for hybrid cards
JR: - That's nice to have hybrid cars, because before, 5 years ago, we know that they are very expensive, and today they are now affordable because we have many key players who are now  making more hybrid cars

For electric cars, do you think that’s the solution for us to save money vs. oil price increase?
JR: - 5 years ago, people laughed at you if you have an electric car, you use electricity to run your own car, but today, we experience oil price increase and traffic in EDSA are getting worst, then you will feel the need to save money and we know that electric cars will be the global trend in the coming years, For this year its for hybrids and the next year it will be for electric cars.

What's new for this year at the MIAS
JR: - We have more hybrid features, and more booths and more cars, and more brands, today we feature this amphibian car of the AFP, its a product of the Philippines, the materials are from abroad and the amphibian car is assembled here in our country.

Do we have local manufacturers ?
JR: - Today we have local car accessories maker, those who create custom cars and we also have international custom car makers and companies here at the auto show.

What’s your dream plan for the auto show ?
JR: - Our dream plan might to have one very big venue to house everything for the auto show. Like we have here for this year, we have 3 venues and we saw that the venue is still small for us to place everything with cars and exhibitors. Our market and visitors are growing every year, we need one big venue for the whole car industry, today we have 35 car brands and growing every year and added with more China car brands to top brands and luxury car brands.

You brought back Russ Swift again for the show, how is he today?
JR: - Russ is still awesome and great, he got new stunts to show today, last year he just let one to two people to ride with him, but today, he let 3-4 people ride with him in a Subaru car while doing the stunts.

What are other main attractions? ,Maliban sa car show babes hahaha.
JR: -  (laughing)  We have new cars, new car brands and next few years we will have more.

What are the response of the visitors ?
JR: - Their response is much okay today, Because we partnered with BPI Auto Loan and they provide fast auto loan services, and one of our highlights is that for the 1st time, we're going to raffle off a free down payment for your car loan with BPI auto loan, the organizers provided the free down payment  as a thank you giveaway for the lucky visitor and car loan applicant.

After the show, What’s the next plan ?
JR: - 1st we need to rest and then we're getting ready for another auto show in the ff. months, We're going to bring the auto show in Cebu at the Cebu International Convention Center, its a follow up for the MIAS and its our 5th time to have it there.

Russ Swift is back in action at Manila International Auto Show 2011

Russel Swift, the world’s best car precision driver is back in Manila for another performance of his famous car stunts. It’s my 3rd year to see him perform and he still rocks and pulled another cool tricks. He even allowed 3 people inside the car to do the 2 wheels wheelie of a Subaru car.  more pics below

I got an offer to volunteer again for his stunt, but I let it pass, (I thought kasi I’ll be late and will miss show, so naabutan ko yung show nya)

photos: Car show babes spotlight at Manila International Auto Show 2011

Car Show Babes are automatically added at the auto show, with the big number of car brands means that there’s also a big number of car show babes standing infront of different car brands, giving out leaflets and busy posing to a photographer’s camera. Also the number of DSLR camera armed beings also increased.

I was with photographer Magic Liwanag walking around the hall and busy doing a photo coverage, at the end of the hall, we spotted this blockade infront of us, after walking infront of it, we saw a group of photogs busy taking pics with this lady at the Repsol booth. Then I noticed that the lady is Jahziel Manabat. Oh wow! I haven’t seen her for years and its great to see her again. I missed her at the CAMPI car show, and I’m glad we met here again. Its funny, because I was standing at the back waiting for the crowd of people finishes off their stunt, then Jahziel saw me at the back and with a surprise, and said that she misses me and I was always out of action.

 
Magic didn’t know her, but I told her she’s the reigning queen of car show babes, she has a lot of fans and if you saw a big crowd at an auto show, expect her posing infront of those big crowd of photogs.

And as a traditional post in my blog every year whenever there’s an auto show,…there’s also our car show babes… so here they are!  Too bad that I missed Abby Poblador, I saw her and then after roaming around with the CROC car, she was gone. Remember that our car show babes or models are there to assist car fans and customers, its okay to ask for a photo op with them, but just don’t ask them to pose a lot for you and pls. don’t touch the models or grab them, or even touch their hair and face if you’re going to take a photo. Just ask nicely and then say thank you after taking a pic, if you know her name, just call her by her name and then ask nicely with a smile. If you saw them not smiling, it means they are already tired and lets give them a break and come back another time or day.

            

Hot cars rises again at Manila International Auto Show 2011

Hot and sexy cars are back at the Manila International Auto Show 2011, the auto show started the other day and it will go on til April 10, 2011 at the World Trade Center in Pasay City. Don’t miss this show, because this is the biggest auto show ever in our country and it continues to grow every year, today they got 35 car brands and an attraction of custom cars, car stunts, accessories, and car show babes.

Here’s my panoramic view of the day 2 of the auto show. Its great to see the crowd again go wow and be amazed on the display of hot and sexy cars. More hybrid cars are coming in this year and a great participation also with 3 kinds of China made cars and also with top of the line brand of cars.

The world’s best car precision driver Russel Swift springs back into the action as he do those car stunts infront of a big crowd outside the trade hall. This is my 3rd year at the auto show and I’m glad that Russ still rocks! / other photo shows the stamp pad of my ticket on my palm.

Here’s from the Great Wall cars booth. The red car is the Haval M2 and the gray car is the Cool Bear. I like the style of the Cool Bear because it looks like a bigger version of the mini cooper.

I fell inlove with this pick up truckr custom and restoration by Alex restoration, its so big and the wheels are big. The back cab looks like a fire truck. Right photo shows the biggest space occupied by Ford.



Checking out some cool car brands at Mitsubishi booth and here’s a visit to a cute Subaru WRX car. The red color is hot!

CROC stands for Coastal Riverine Overland Craft

Don’t miss to view this handsome baby. The C.R.O.C. vehicle is proudly Philippine made. It is an amphibious vehicle equipped with bullet proof body and window, remote  controlled machine guns, unmanned flying drone with camera and it can travel to sea, river and rough roads. The CROC can be customized as a command center, ambulance mode, aerial surveillance mode, air defense mode, boat, and a attack vehicle in land. It is locally made here and I heard that our AFP uses this vehicle today.
