Smooth Finances in Married Life

Smooth Finances in Married Life

How to Have Smooth Finances in Married Life:

It's a sad thing that the major cause of divorce in America is financially related. Even if the couple started out as great lovers willing to sacrifice for each other, money can sometimes break this foundation. Let's review some vows and basic essentials to attain smooth finances in married life.

Remember those Arrhae

Perhaps couples are just so excited in the wedding process or too preoccupied memorising vows that they forget about the arrhae. In most weddings, an arrhae is given to the wife as a man's dedication of his family's welfare and whatever wealth they will share. Yet, some wives don't remember their vows and just splurge on their own selfish luxuries. Accepting the arrhae means that the wife is the keeper of their treasure. Or, if the wife is the breadwinner, the man can be the treasure keeper too. And a good treasure keeper will even be better is she keep it in an account that will grow.

Talk about Money Openly

Sometimes talking about money is treated as a taboo in a marriage. Sometimes even asking how much a spouse is actually earning is a bit unethical. It is quite absurd but some wives don't even know how much the spouse is actually earning and vice versa. Yet, to be able to have a good picture of their actual earnings can lead to good financial plans. Talk about money openly. It takes a lot of time and maybe some compromises but honesty about money is the first step to a good married life.

Don't Breach that Financial Trust

Yes, aside from not saying their actual worth, some couples are hiding their purchases from each other. They hide what they are charging to their prepaid visa card and burn receipts. Worse is when they are hiding bank accounts from each other. Others would reason that they are only doing it for the benefit of their marriage and for financial security yet it is a breach of financial trust. Learn to talk about money and have a clear plan towards savings together. Saving attempts can be easily work out when two people are working on it together.

Choose a Good Spouse

Having a visa prepaid account is much easier than choosing a good spouse. Yet, it can still be done. The least a person can do is to choose a person with the same financial perspective as he does. But then opposites attract right, and so more often than not, a spender begets a saver. However, marriage is all about compromise. Work together on each other's differences as a couple and smooth marital finances can be attained in no time.
