just seems to me that people are acting like its a feature that shouldn't be on a phone rather then one that is almost standard. it also just seems that IM's are quicker conversations then texts, but maybe i'm wrong about that cause on phones it's pretty much the same thing.
Well, that's the thing. Every iPod has featured something innovative. The original delivered a small music player capable of holding a (at the time) extensive amount of songs with seamless software. The 3G iPod opened the doors to all users. The mini added even more style and portability to it, making it very popular. The nano held even more songs in a smaller package with a color screen. The 5G iPod delivered all of the above with the ability to watch TV shows and movies on it. Each iPod has brought something to the table that's new and kept competitors guessing what they would do next. Advertising an iPhone, a major step for them, with instant messaging won't cut it. That's already out there. Up until the release of the 5G iPod, you couldn't buy TV shows legally on the internet. Instant messaging on your phone is offered by all of Apple's potential competitors should they decide to enter the mobile phone market.
yea, but i think that if they do a full tiny keyboard, they will be going for something similar to a sidekick. the sidekick 3 was a major let down.
I love the Sidekick. It's been a hugely successful phone. I think it was great that the SK3 added music, a 1.3 MP shooter, and EDGE, but I do agree they could have at least kept EDGE in there. I think Apple would be smart to make a device similar to the Sidekick. This doesn't mean that they need to make a swiveling screen, (even though it's been patented a million times by Danger) but I think people are starting to warm up to smartphones now. My generation (teen) and my sister's (early 20's) are especially. I have heard that Apple may be launching two devices: one simple phone and a smartphone, which is probably smart because not everyone is interested in a smartphone.

You have to understand the law. What the seller did was intentionally try to deceived. Would a reasonable person be deceived by this listing, yes, therefore the judgement would go to the plaintiff if something like this ever went to court.
The seller should be banned and hopefully will.
I do understand law.
In civil court....you are correct. In criminal court...no dice. In a criminal court the prosector has to prove that the defendant has violated the LETTER OF LAW. Clearly the seller didn't in this case.
Civil court judges have much more freedom to interpret law (and intent) than criminal.

Virus protection? Useful perhaps, what with all the viruses on Macs now-a-days.
I'm sure a lot (if not most) users of the .mac webmail interface are accessing it from a Windows PC. So yes, virus protection makes a lot of sense here.

The better tidbit from Wikipedia is that Data from Star Trek had a capacity of 100 petabytes. So, Apple has a ways to go until they get something really interesting. iData?
I found this while on the wki page...coolest website ever. Ha ha ha! You can even order a personalized autographed CD of his! Poor Brent, things are that bad:(

To get that much storage you would need 1,000,000,000,000 Mac Mini Servers which costed at full retail is 70x the US national debt.
Apple's 500,000 sq ft data centre usuing Doctor Q's 10 fot of usuable vertical space could hold 104,088,861 not accounting for heat dissapation cabling storage racks etc. Therefore you would need 9,607 data centres of the size of apple's current (which was rumored to cost $1billion). However that is a storage facility literally filled with no walking space between the racks or anything like that so a sensible suggestion would be to double that.
The total size of this project would be 9,607,000,000 sq ft or 344 sq miles. Turks and Caicos Islands (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Turks_and_Caicos_Islands) happens to 366 sq miles, although to allow for expansion, shipping port/airport and power plants and other ancilallry buildings such as worker housing, supermarket and such I would suggest that Hong Kong with an area of 426 sq miles is a good place to start. Although given the high population of Hong Kong it isn't an ideal place to build such a facility, therefore the Faroe Islands with a size of 538 miles might be the first sensible place to wipe out. Alternatively you could just dump it in Texas/Alaska as they have plenty of land spare. Alaska would give you natural cooling which would be a bonus over Texas although can you image the series of Ice Road truckers, "In this haul is 100,000 Mac Minis."
All in all to go for something like large with some as inappropriate as a Mac Mini is a costly and ultimately bonkers idea.
Fingers crossed that the sums are correct.
You forgot to mentioned the nuclear powerplants that would be required to run this as well as the affects on global warning this would have ;-)

Anybody getting this thing? I have heard good things and bad.
I was thinking Onlive would be great for MMOs and RTSs but not much else due to the lag.

Hmmm. I think I figured this one out. It's Apple. Apple makes Macs. All new Macs have Airport. Macs are plugged into the Internet. iPhones are made by Apple. Apple controls the default settings on Mac OS X.
"If you're near a Mac your calls are free."
How 'bout them Apples?
Sweet. But, there's more to just piggybacking on your mac's airport connection to make calls. I think more has to be done to make this networking possible.

Anyone out there want a free Apple Stylewriter 2400?
Boxed (box is a bit battered) with power lead, serial cable and a couple of ink cartridges.
I'll pay half the P&P costs.

I had no idea what the Original post was talking about until Dreadnought pointed it out.
You can also try restarting the computer and even power-cycled your network if the problem is still there after trying Dreadnought's suggestion.

I really liked this one. I've tried many other apps that gather the Album Cover art for iTunes songs/albums but this is the best by far.
It's called Clutter (http://www.sprote.com/clutter/).
Launch Clutter when you have iTunes open. As a song is playing, Clutter automatically looks up the album art. Once found, under the File menu select copy to iTunes and BAM, it's there for the WhOLE album. Sweet.
One note. If it doesn't find the art, just go under the File menu and choose "Find cover in Amazon". Just type in different variations of the artist or song and i'm sure it'll pop up.
Enjoy,
~e
i have to say that is a top app.... thats why i started this thread... that type of app i would never have known about...cheers... just going through amigomacs now...

I should thank Steve Jobs for a Keynote that saved me money and didn't have me lusting after something. Amount to be spent as a result of this keynote - 0
AppleTV - pointless.
iPhone - beautiful. I'm NEVER spending that much on a phone. EVER.
New Airport Extreme - cost twice what it should.
