My photo of Super moon of March 19, 2011 (Philippines)

Here' my photo of the super moon around 3am. I woke at 2am for the full super moon, but my view was blocked by a thick dark cloud, and the super moon is not the big size that I'm expecting. But I waited til the clouds be gone.

I still enjoy taking pics of the full moon when it reaches the horizon, it is much bigger as it approaches on the other side of the Earth.

I've been monitor the skies starting from 5:30pm til 6:30pm, then I got the news that the Super Moon will shine at its brightest at around 12am or 2am. The Super moon will be bigger and shinier when it reaches the horizon. A big view of the moon will be seen at that schedule. I went out today and check the skies and saw that the full moon is shining so bright and with clear skies. I see starts and less clouds.

I took some photos in high resolution using my Olympus E520 and 150mm zoom lens.
Let's check out the moon again later at 2am and observe the Extreme Super Moon.

Super Moon is coming close to the Earth this March 19

I just read this info first from Earth Rullan, she posted in the social networks about the extreme full of the moon this coming March 19, 2011, and it was also called Super moon.

What is a Super moon?
"A SuperMoon is a perigee-syzygy, a new or full moon (syzygy) which occurs when the Moon is at 90% or greater of its mean closest approach to Earth (perigee)" - Richard Nolle, said.

and here's an interesting part that says that the upcoming Super moon is now affecting our planet Earth's behavior.

"I have read several "new age" forecasts that go something like this: "Extreme SuperMoon this month (March 2011) will bring strong earthquakes and storms and/or unusual climate patterns." Google the term 'extreme SuperMoon March 2011' and see for yourself what comes up. The validity of these types of forecasts can be debated ad nauseum.

There were SuperMoons in 1955, 1974, 1992 and 2005. These years had their share of extreme weather and other natural events. Is the Super Moon and these natural occurrences a coincidence? Some would say yes; some would say no. I'm not here to pick sides and say I'm a believer or non-believer in subjects like this, but as a scientist I know enough to ask questions and try to find answers." - source

They say that the earthquakes, storms, volcano eruptions and the recent disaster in Japan was related to the coming Super moon, and there will be more on between March 17-19. I know that the full moon's gravity force affects our Earth and sea, but I hope that the Super moon won't bring more disaster, we know that there's no proof yet about it, but let's see what will happen on March 19.

I'm gearing up to take another photo shot of this Super moon event, been having dreams when I was a kid that Venus and Moon are so close to the Earth and after 20 years, the moon will be close to us and its time to enjoy the beauty of the full moon and observe after it.
