Finally! Lucky Star will premiere in Animax tomorrow! you see that I’m not very familiar with this anime, but I saw lots of fans love the series and first discovered it after I saw some cosplayers, check out tomorrow June 8, 2011 at 7:30pm only in Animax. (More news below)

-press release-

This June 8, 2011, Animax laughs up the our TV screens with the premiere of Lucky Star, a series about a motley crew of teen girls who find themselves in silly situations and hilarious misadventures more often than not.

Anime fans will especially enjoy the series which is peppered with humorous references and parodies to the prevailing anime, manga and Japanese pop culture. (see links below)

Based on the very real setting of Kasukabe city in Saitama Prefecture, Lucky Star follows the amusing antics and lively activities of four Japanese high school girls through their seemingly ordinary day-to-day lives in and out of school.

Konata, an athletic and intelligent girl too dedicated to her favourite anime shows to excel in anything but being an anime ‘otaku’ (obsessive fan). There is Miyuki, the bespectacled living example of ‘moe’ (cuteness) who has an almost encyclopaedic knowledge of all subjects.

And Kagami is a ‘bitter-sweet’ character who is tough but shy to Konata's teases and pranks; and her younger fraternal twin sister, Tsukasa, a kind but air-headed simpleton.

The popularity of the Lucky Star has brought more than 470,000 fans from across Japan over the 2011 New Year holidays to pay ‘pilgrimage’ to the Washinomiya Shrine. As Tokyo area's oldest shrine and real-life backdrop of the anime series, the shrine is where Kagami and Tsukasa work as miko (shrine maidens). The influx of anime fans over the years has brought more than 1 billion yen to the town of Washimiya town where the shrine is situated.

Catch Lucky Star on Animax every Monday to Friday at 7:30pm, beginning on June 8!

Kim So-yeon as Ma Hye-ri
Junior Prosecutor, Midland Prosecutor’s Office. Daughter of CEO Ma of Dongbang Architecture. Beauty like an actress’ and a body that would make a movie star cry! Passing the bar exam is as easy as 1-2-3 for Ma Hye-ri. However, despite her fantastic memory skills and keen sense of observation, becoming a prosecutor does not interest her at all. Being a factionist, Hye-ri shies away from hard work, and is instead engrossed in the latest fashion and designer brands. But when she faces conflicts with senior colleagues and struggles in difficult cases, Hye-ri fights head on and gradually matures into a brilliant prosecutor with a sense of duty and justice.

Park Si-hoo as Seo In-woo
Park Shi-hoo will reprise the cold persona he showed in previous dramas (Iljimae, Family Honor) showing off a sharp, sleek style. He plays a lawyer freshly graduated from a college in the U.S. and returns to Korea, where he passes the bar exam. Even though he didn’t grow up in Korea, he takes on important cases for Korean businessmen and he helps to turn those businesses into very prosperous enterprises. This gives rise to a lot of speculation about his past and background, making him a mysterious character. He’ll find himself pitted against Han Jung-soo for the affection of Ma Hye-ri.

Han Jeong-soo as Yoon Se-joon
Chief Prosecutor of Ma Hye-ri’s office. Tall and handsome, this attractive man is called “The Gregory Peck of the Prosecutor World”. Han is currently heating up television screens (and ajummas’ hearts) as the slave-hunting General Choi in Chuno. Han’s character is also cool-headed and sharp as a prosecutor who throws himself into his work after the death of his wife.

Choi Song-hyeon as Jin Jeong-seon
Hye-ri’s senior colleague. Ma Hye-ri’s natural enemy! Hot-blooded prosecutor who lives by justice and dies by justice. She runs around as though she’ll save the world all by herself, this has earned her the nickname “Eagle Noona” as well as “Double Blade”, because her speech cuts like a knife. She became a prosecutor because her father, having lost all of his money to a con, died of a nervous disorder brought on by rage. Because of her work, she has never dreamed of marriage. Sometimes, when corruption in the prosecutor world comes to light, or a fellow prosecutor’s misconduct is revealed, she fumes alone, drinking like a fish.

Nura: Rise of the Yokai Clan Airs in Animax every Thurs

Nura keyart 8 (Custom)
airing every Thursday at 9:30pm, First and exclusively on Animax

Growing up can be a tough experience for many, but it is a lot worse when there are huge shoes to fill or great shadows to step out of. And it seems that teenage angst isn’t that different in the supernatural realm from the human one. (more below)

Premiered last 10 February first and exclusively on Animax, anime series Nura: Rise of the Yokai Clan follows the life of Rikuo Nura, a 12-year-old boy who is three-quarters human and a quarter ‘yokai’, or supernatural creatures and demons that rule the night.

As the grandson of Nurarihyon, the supreme commander of the most powerful Nura clan of ‘yokai’, Rikuo is the successor-designate to his grandfather. Human at heart, Rikuo initially opposes the evil nature of the ‘yokai’ and rejects his role as the next head of the Nura clan. However, as he comes to terms with his true nature and discovers he can help humans by leading the ‘yokai’, Rikuo embraces his destiny and takes on leadership of the clan.

In so doing, not only must he prove himself a worthy leader by assembling and commanding his very own ‘yokai’ army, but Rikuo will also have to contend with different factions and enemies looking to usurp his position.

Rikuo looks like an ordinary teenager, and like any typical junior high student, has many human school friends. But unbeknownst to them, Rikuo can change into the ‘yokai’ form after the sun sets and wields great powers that can strike fear in enemies, render him invisible, as well as burn and freeze adversaries. However, as he is only a quarter ‘yokai’, Rikuo returns to human form when the sun rises. He lives with his ‘yokai’ grandfather in an ancient Japanese mansion, with demonic minions at their service.

Nura: Rise of the Yokai Clan is based on the manga series of the same title by artist Hiroshi Shiibashi. As Shiibashi’s maiden work, Nura: Rise of the Yokai Clan debuted as a ‘one-shot’ story in 2007 and won the top prize in the ‘Future Gold Cup’ as voted by readers as a work to watch out for. Since then, Shiibashi developed his one-shot story into the full-fledged ‘Nura: Rise of the Yokai Clan’ manga series, which is ongoing with 15 volumes published and counting.
Nura: Rise of the Yokai Clan boasts a stellar voice cast led by top voice actor Jun Fukuyama (Code Geass - Lelouch of the Rebellion, Valkyria Chronicles) who brings to life protagonist Rikuo Nura. Fukuyama won the ‘Best Actor’ honour at Japan’s first ‘Seiyu (anime voice actor) Awards’ in 2007.

Fans can also look out for the popular voice actress Aya Hirano (The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, Lucky Star, Death Note) who voices Ienaga Kana, Rikuo’s childhood friend and neighbour who falls in love with him in his yokai form. Like Fukuyama, Hirano received the 2007 Seiyu ‘Best Newcomer’ award.

Produced by Studio Deen, which is responsible for hit anime TV series such as Vampire Knight Guilty and Giant Killing, Nura: Rise of the Yokai Clan has proven so popular that a second season of the anime series has already been confirmed and is in production.
Embark on this coming-of-age tale like no other as Rikuo Nura struggles against his inner demons in the action-packed Nura: Rise of the Yokai Clan this February, only on Animax!
