Lucky Star anime will premiere in Animax on June 8

Finally! Lucky Star will premiere in Animax tomorrow! you see that I’m not very familiar with this anime, but I saw lots of fans love the series and first discovered it after I saw some cosplayers, check out tomorrow June 8, 2011 at 7:30pm only in Animax. (More news below)

This June 8, 2011, Animax laughs up the our TV screens with the premiere of Lucky Star, a series about a motley crew of teen girls who find themselves in silly situations and hilarious misadventures more often than not.

Anime fans will especially enjoy the series which is peppered with humorous references and parodies to the prevailing anime, manga and Japanese pop culture. (see links below)

Based on the very real setting of Kasukabe city in Saitama Prefecture, Lucky Star follows the amusing antics and lively activities of four Japanese high school girls through their seemingly ordinary day-to-day lives in and out of school.

Konata, an athletic and intelligent girl too dedicated to her favourite anime shows to excel in anything but being an anime ‘otaku’ (obsessive fan). There is Miyuki, the bespectacled living example of ‘moe’ (cuteness) who has an almost encyclopaedic knowledge of all subjects.

And Kagami is a ‘bitter-sweet’ character who is tough but shy to Konata's teases and pranks; and her younger fraternal twin sister, Tsukasa, a kind but air-headed simpleton.

The popularity of the Lucky Star has brought more than 470,000 fans from across Japan over the 2011 New Year holidays to pay ‘pilgrimage’ to the Washinomiya Shrine. As Tokyo area's oldest shrine and real-life backdrop of the anime series, the shrine is where Kagami and Tsukasa work as miko (shrine maidens). The influx of anime fans over the years has brought more than 1 billion yen to the town of Washimiya town where the shrine is situated.

Get your Romance and Fantasy fix this April 2011 in Star Movies

I’m so happy that Star Movies is going fantasy theme this April 2011, I haven’t watch The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus in the big screen and now I have a big chance to watch it via Star Movies. They also have a line of romance flicks on the line. check out our list here for April 2011.

   

Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time (April 3). Go on a journey with Jake Gyllenhaal in this epic adventure in the heart of Persia. After he was falsely accused of killing his adoptive father, Prince Dastan (Gyllenhaal) tries to avenge his death by discovering the identity of the true killer. Along the way, he joins forces with the mysterious Princess Tamina (Gemma Artenton) as they go against the dark forces and guard an ancient dagger, which holds the famed Sands of Time.

Remember Me (April 10). Robert Pattinson switches from brooding vampire to rebellious NYU student Tyler Hawkins in Remember Me. After his brother’s suicide and his parents’ divorce, Tyler becomes isolated and troubled. He meets fellow NYU student Ally (Emilie De Ravin), and find strength and inspiration in each other. As Tyler and Ally strive to overcome their own tragedies, love seems like a possibility on the horizon, until their secrets start to unravel and threaten to tear them apart.

The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus (April 17). Experience a fantastic visual ride into the world of imagination and stories of Doctor Parnassus. Played by Christopher Plummer, Parnassus leads a traveling troupe, which includes Anton (Andrew Garfield), Percy (Verne Troyer), and his daughter Valentina (Lily Cole). Because of a deal with Mr. Nick (Tom Waits), Parnassus is on a race against time to save Valentina from becoming another soul sacrifice. Then Tony (played by Heath Ledger, Johnny Depp, Colin Farrell, and Jude Law), an unpredictable comical man with amnesia, enters the picture, and he might be Valentina’s only hope.

The Men Who Stare at the Goats (April 24). George Clooney, Ewan McGregor, Jeff Bridges, and Kevin Spacey star in a comedy war film that is loosely based on Jon Ronson’s book of the same name. Reporter Bob Wilton (McGregor) lands himself a story of a lifetime where he meets former U.S. Army member Lyn Cassady (Clooney). Together, they try to uncover the secret of a unit that employs paranormal powers and goats in their missions.

The sole Reagan woman in the family, Erin (Moynahan), is a New York Assistant District Attorney and newly single parent, who also serves as the legal compass for her siblings and father. Jamie (Will Estes, Reunion, U-571) is the youngest Reagan, fresh out of Harvard Law and the family's "golden boy”; however, unable to deny the family tradition, Jamie decides to give up a lucrative future in law and is now a newly minted cop. Jamie's life takes an abrupt turn when he is asked to become part of a clandestine police investigation even his father knows nothing about and which might have been related to the death of his brother, Joe.

Indeed, what sets Blue Bloods apart from the run-of-the-mill cop drama is its focus on blood ties and the clashes that inevitably arise from having a family of cops and a daughter as a prosecutor. As Tom Selleck shared in an interview, “One of the key elements of the show almost every week is a family dinner. Frank is a patriarch of a family… They’re Irish and they’re Catholic and they argue a lot at family dinner but it seems to be one of the favourite parts of the show.”

Blue Bloods’ balanced combination of nail-biting detective drama and family struggles offers rich material rarely handled so well by both a cast of actors and writers. It invites you to fall in love and admire the men and women who struggle in and out of themselves to maintain order in New York City and their families.
