Baby Ash 1st year birthday preparation for May 24

Few weeks ago was our preparation for Ashton's 1st year old birthday, we got busy the past weeks when Ash was confined in the hospital, all our attention was into Ash's recovery and also taking care of all those hospital stuff at The Medical City. I started to count my money on my pocket and its already gone, and now I'm on a big debt and still trying to pay it one by one. Ok enough of that money drama. Mom and Dad sent their birthday blow out to Ash and then I told my wife to use it to buy lechon for the celebration, we love lechon! that's why I requested for it hehehe. then my wife told me that after she ordered the lechon, she then use the remaining cash and ordered a birthday cake for Ash in Goldilocks.heard it was an animated movie UP cake design, I wonder how it looked.

Our celebration is not that big or bongga for now, but we will just have our private celebration first with the entire family...good to hear that my relatives will join with us.. Really excited for Ash's day.

I was surprised to discover that Ash and my wife were in SM MOA yesterday, I was about to go home around the afternoon and decided to take the shuttle nearby, then my wife called me and told me that they’re going to visit a store in SM MOA and meet up with Tita Len. It was half an hour after I booted myself out of Starbucks and went to the shuttle terminal, then I went back again in the mall all scorched out and tired, but the extra energy came in when I learned that my baby boy is in the mall too,… it means…play time! (More Story Below)

Day 5 was our last day of stay in The Medical City and we just found the answer that afternoon and doctor's order that Ash can go home on the other day, but we decided to go back home on day 5 and here we are at home..back to normal..Ash is so energetic and us parents are back to work. (More story below)

that afternoon, I decided to finish my work inside CBTL cafe nearby, but after an hour, my wife txted me and said that the doctor will visit Ash and tell her orders and decision, and after I went up to the room, I received a good news that Ash is ok to go home, but they need to get his blood and urine sample for another culture test to see and check if the e.coli bacteria is gone.

Ash and Medical City day 4

P5155388
The good part staying in a nice hospital is like staying in a hotel, the difference is that the food comes in a regular basis every day. Today is the day 4 for Ash being confined here in The Medical City, and I see a great improvement on his recovery and winning the battle against an e.coli infection, for the 1st time we saw that Ash never got any fever for the entire day. During out stay, me and my wife started to discover the restaurants located below the building and the eating and drinking never stops here. (More story below)

P5155390
On our 1st day, my wife bought food in North Park, Mongkok, then in Barbaras, Mini Stop, Mary Grace Cafe and for our dinner today, we bought food in Kimono Ken. Then the other I spend some of my money in Starbucks and McDonald's..omg..I'm glad they have Mcdo here that operates 24 hours today and serves a fast awesome speed of wifi internet. Photo above is our take out meal from Kimono Ken, I super love their Donburi Gyudon meal.

P5155391
Here's my baby boy Ashton enjoying his hospital food meal, I'm hoping that we can go home this Monday so that we can go back to our work, take care of Ash at home, and start paying the hospital bills. I just heard from the attending nurse that Ash will still need to finish those antibiotics and needed another blood and urine test to check if the infection is gone, for our estimate, Ash might go home on Tuesday and our hospital bills are now around er...hmm..20k

I'm still worried with all of these expenses and then this is a sign that I should work hard and look for money generating gigs, I'm preparing for Ash's birthday on the 24th and I want to buy a big lechon for everyone, my wife will be happy if we have a big meat on the table, its a super big feast for us in celebrating Ash's 1st year in our world.. I love you Ash! hope you get your health back and let's play under sun with the new bike that we bought.

As for day 4, our lives here are still the same, but its still a good news that Ash is going back to his health, also a funny and cute moment here is that the child actress Mutya Orquia is here in the other side of the room, her yaya went to us infront of the door and borrowed the Hummer car from Ash, the my wife and Ash's yaya went outside and saw that little cute girl Mutya is here and could be recovering from a flu. I wanna have a pic with her and Ash, I used to sing the theme song to Ash every time we finishes eating dinner at night and tune in to that tv series.

Ash and Medical City day 3

P5145362
Its our 3rd day of stay here in The Medical City and I just heard the news from our doctor that the main culprit that making Ash so sick is E.Coli. They already found the cause of the fever and now they gave Ash some antibiotics every 8 hours, they plug another i.v. with the antibiotics.
Ash is still energetic as usual, I thought we lost our hope in finding a cure after Ash hits the 40C high fever this morning, I just hope there will be no more fever today and said that Ash might go home on Monday. (more story below)

Ash and Medical City day 2

nokiac30703
Ashton starts to get bored already for our day 2 stay in The Medical City and thanks to our Acer laptop that gives a little entertainment for Ash in watching Brainy Baby dvds and playing online game at the Fisher Price's website. I received bad news when I arrived there this afternoon and the high fever still kicks in and Ash started to chill at night, We're glad that they are already in the hospital and doctors and nurses are available 24 hours a day. Ashton loves to ride the Hummer motorized car inside the lobby, this was used by kids whenever they exit the room going to the gate of the hospital, the toy car ride sits on a metallic bar and like a wheel chair and push cart, the parent will control its movement and as for Ashton, it is his new toy that day, he rides and enjoy it..just to make his day not so boring. ( More below )

My wife always call the nurse on duty whenever Ash is on high fever, the last measurement was around 39 C and they quickly gave medicine and then Ash will starts to go to sleep, perspire and then wake up really hungry and then be energetic again. I spent my whole day hugging and carrying him on the bed, we also rode the Hummer car and was surprised to be greeted by Aunt Zen and Uncle Vic at the lobby, so sad to see that their first meet up with Ash was inside the hospital, but its still okay and we're happy to see them have fun with Ash.

Ash finishes off his high fever this afternoon and I just hope that there are no more fever this whole night and I hope to hear good news when we go back again later. His doctor visited us awhile ago and told us that the x-ray result of Ash's lungs are normal and no sign of pneumonia, and that was a great news for me and not to worry to much about pneumonia. Next result later is the urine culture test and then another blood test.

Mommy Lace and baby Ash

Liza and Lace stayed the whole night with Ash, and then I started to enjoy hanging out inside the room because hospital food are coming in so fast and they are yummy! haahaha. Also Starbucks and McDonald's are just below the building, and buying food is not a problem for us. But.... we encountered one problem...the convenience store outside the building has no stocks of Cerelac...arghhhh .. I'll double check our store here in our town and buy a set for Ash...he loves to eat Cerelac and taho in the morning and meryenda.

Been busy since yesterday as we brought baby Ash in The Medical City to find out what’s the cause of this high fever in the afternoon and at night. We are so worried that there might be some kind of viral infection going on inside his body and we are not sure of it and we let the doctors find it out after doing some test. I declare that I’ll go absent in attending all activities this week, and that includes some events and PFW 2011. (more story below)

The 1st day visit to the hospital is tiring already because we waited for the blood and urine test for half a day, we encountered some problems that Ash is having a hard time in the morning to urinate while wearing that wee bag inside his diapers, but after a successful attempt we got it right and rewarded us a wet bed inside the pediatrics ER room.

According to the blood test, they noticed that Ash’s white blood cells has this 25 counts and its higher than the normal count of 10, all cells are normal and also the urine test, so we found out that it is not about dengue or UTI. But then the attending doctor prescribed us some paracetamol for Ash’s high fever and advices that we should do another blood test tomorrow and get an advice from Ash’s own pediatrician.

After doing the blood test again for the 2nd day on the 2nd day, Ash’s pediatrician told us the same result like on the 1st day, we are now worried because we can’t find the main focus of the high fever and it could be about an infection happening inside the body that we can’t detect, so the doctor advised to get an X-ray to check for pneumonia and another test for blood and urine to have it cultured and observe if there are any infection forming. My wife decided that we confine Ash for 3 days, based on the recommendation of the doctor, so I’m getting worried again (sympre with all the expenses coming in again) but its okay, because it will be for Ash’s health and for not worrying anymore because TMC is a good hospital and we are very comfortable with them.

I got teary eyes when they inserted that IV to Ash’s hand and then on his right foot. It was a painful feeling for Ash and I can see how he reacted and asking already to stop, but we need to hold on to him and help the doctor get the right vein and then after a few tries…they got it right on Ash’s foot. After the session, I went back home and let my wife and my sister in law take care of Ash in the pediatrics room. Then after arriving home my wife told me that Ash is sleeping and the fever is gone.

Baby stuff and gear that I saw on TV

I saw some baby stuff and gear on TV, it was shown on The Today Show and I enjoyed the features of any kinds of products on TV, and I got some interest acquiring some of the baby stuff items. Let me feature it here in my blog.

image image
Tinkle Targets ( $5)
This paper sticker will be used in potty training your little boy on how to stand properly infront of the toilet bowl. All they have to do is stand and then target the image. The material is flushable and it is biodegrable. Kids will enjoy this and learn on how to never miss a spot during their potty times.
source

Az commentary:
I think that I can make my own version of this Tinkle Targets, all I have to do is grab a soft paper towel and use a pentel pen or marker, draw an image or a target bulls eye.

image
The Baby Crying Analyser ($30)
This gadget can analyze the mood of your baby by crying. The gadget can measure levels of crying and it can determine if your baby is hungry, upset, annoyed, sleepy or bored. I don’t know how this gadget works and I want to have one for me because baby Ash always wakes up during his sleep and starts to cry and I don’t know if he got scared or hungry.
source

Az commentary:
I always look on the face of my baby when he cries, that way I can understand more about him on what he really wants, but sometimes I get a hard time understanding it whenever his eyes are closed.

image
Mother’s 3rd Arm ($35)
This baby gear is really cute, its a wired thing with soft cover that is attached on your baby’s stroller, that way they can hold any item like feeding bottle with a little hold support from the Mother’s 3rd Arm. You can roll and stroll while your baby is busy drinking or eating, and have no worries if the bottle will fall, because it is attached safely to the Mother’s 3rd Arm.
source

Az commentary:
I want one!! this can help me hold any of Ashton’s toys

image
The Juppy baby walker ($30)
We have this at home, a friend gave this as a gift to us and we are very happy that Ashton got this at an early stage. It’s a perfect training accessories for him to learn on how to stand and walk properly. We can guide him by using placing Ashton inside the baby walker and hold the strap and it will prevent him from falling down. Although that I found a weird disadvantage that the baby walker holds the baby by the support under their arm pit.
source

Az commentary:
best for beyond 10 months old, sorry Ash…we need to wait more months for you to try this again

image
Always Clean Pacifier ($4)
This is a special pacifier with built it hard plastic cover, the plastic cover activates whenever the pacifier fell from the baby’s mouth and then to the floor. The plastic will cover the pacifier before it reaches the ground. This way, you won’t get tired of cleaning the pacifier over and over again when it falls on the ground.
source

Az commentary:
Ash never uses pacifier, but I hope they can make one for teethers.

I really enjoyed looking at these cool baby gears…I will update again soon if ever we found some interesting stuff online, on tv or at the store.
