“Having earned notoriety for his custom toys in the past, Korean designer CoolRain teams up with a full-on toy brand in MINDstyle to release an upcoming NBA-based mini figure series. Just recently, we’ve seen a number of collaborative projects involving MINDstyle, however this is arguably one of their projects with the greatest reach. Series 1 incorporates a star-studded cast including Kobe Bryant, Carmelo Anthony, Kevin Garnett, Derrick Rose, Dirk Nowitzki, Brandon Roy, Steve Nash, Manu Ginobili, Amare Stoudemire and Dwayne Wade.”  - Hypebeast.com

Check out my toy review here, I have two figures here at home and got an early preview of the NBA Collector Series 1 by CoolRain and Mindstyle. Read my feature and review here at http://azraelsmerryland.blogspot.com/2011/01/nba-collectors-series-1-figure-toy-by.html

NBA Collectors Series 1 figure toy by coolrain x mindstyle

Mindstyle sent over 2 pieces of NBA Collectors Series 1 blind boxes few weeks ago and I remember that this was released last December in the web at Mindstyle website and also the toy designer Coolrain's website. The figures will be available this February 2011 (hopefully) and it will be sold in art toy shops in Manila with a price tag of P840 each blind boxes.

Photo above is from our backyard, I placed the Roy and Stoudemire figure on the pavement infront of the mini basketball. Size of the figure is around 4 1/2 inches or nearly 5 inches.

more story and photos below

They have 10 NBA Players hidden in each blind boxes, so if you plan to collect all of them, I suggest grab a whole box that contains 15 pieces of blind boxes.

The NBA Players are:
Carmelo Anthony
Derrick Rose
Dwayne Wade
Amar'e Stoudemire
Kevin Garnett
Manu Ginobili
Kobe Bryant
Steve Nash
Dirk Nowitzki
Brandon Roy

also they have a secret figure hidden that are not listed above, hmmm who could that be? What's the chase figure for you ? my guess is Kobe Bryant! hehehe

The blind boxes with label but it didn't print on who will be inside the box. That's why its called blind box. After opening the box, you'll see a black plastic that contains the toy figure.

Amar'e Stoudemire
Each figure contains an extra pair of hands and one Spalding basketball. The plastic on the figure is solid and heavy.

Brandon Roy
You can remove the hands and replace with its extra hands. I was looking for the hand that can hold the ball and I notice the hands and fingers are fixed and there's no way it can hold a grip to the small scaled basketball.

Let's play ball!

The arm band looks real! Its a piece of cloth that resembles the real arm band.

scale wise... I'm not sure if it follows the height of each players, but I love the scale of the figure.

collect them all!
