Seth Rogen joins The Mythbusters for the Green Hornet special (tonight at 8PM Discovery Channel)

green hornet mythbusters
"Do you want to see something cool?"

Adam and Jamie of Mythbusters will be joined by Seth Rogen, the star and co-writer of "The Green Hornet" movie. They will have a special episode of Mythbusters tonight in Discovery Channel, January 28, 2011 at 8:00PM. The Mythbusters team will do some scenes from the movie and will apply it in real situations. That includes real explosions, cars and no camera tricks. (more story below)

I'm a big fan and follower of this series in Discovery Channel, just like Seth Rogen who is a big fan too and its fun to see Adam and Jamie, and along with Kari and Grant to check if these movie myths can be applied in the real world. I've seen a lot of their episodes and its fun to see if the law of the movie myths is possible. Tonight they will take us back to two incredible scenes from the movie "The Green Hornet" and actor Seth Rogen who played the character of Green Hornet will be there with the Mythbusters team to witness first hand if their movie scenes are possible to happen outside the movie world. .

“I’m a big fan of MYTHBUSTERS,We were making a big action movie and it just seemed like the only time we could do something like this. I watch the show all the time and it just seemed cool to see if the stuff in our movie was possible in any way, shape or form.” - Seth Rogen

Two scenes will be investigated, one is the big explosion were they used the Black Beauty car's rocket missiles to blow them out of the ground and another scenes is that if elevator can cut a car in half. There are also lots of scenes in The Green Hornet, and I hope they can show also if Kato vision and Green Hornet vision can be applied in everyone's eyes, its a crazy idea but I think Kato is a robot ahhahah. ( well, that's a joke!)

Okay, to cut the story short, just watch Mythbusters tonight at 8PM this January 28, 2011. I know many pinoys will tune in tonight so chikahan tayo after the tv show.

The Green Hornet movie is now showing in all Philippine cinemas

my coverage: Green Hornet movie screening with Discovery Channel's Mythbuster

Bloggers and media were treated to a movie screening of the movie "The Green Hornet" in Greenbelt 3 cinema with Discovery Channel's Mythbusters. I really like the show of Adam and Jamie when they prove if these movie myths will actual work in our real world, one of the best episode for me are some action scenes in James Bond and also about that conspiracy on the moon landing. But today they introduced to us another movie myth as they will check and see if some of the scenes in "The Green Hornet" movie is possible like throwing up a bulldozer by setting up an explosion under it. The Green Hornet movie special in Mythbusters will air on January 28th at 8pm only in Discovery Channel

The Black Beauty - car of The Green Hornet

GreenHornet_BlackBeauty_01
The Black Beauty car of the Green Hornet is the special weaponry of the team, without the car the two heroes will have difficulties in fighting crimes on the street because they don't have any super powers, the team of Green Hornet and Kato modified an obsolete series of a Chrysler Imperial car and transformed it into their own battle tank car. I'm now thinking of adding this car in my toy collection if ever they are going to release a toy car of the Black Beauty.

more photos and complete details of the Black Beauty car weapons and accessories below

For Batman, it's the Batmobile. But for the ultimate in advanced auto weaponry, The Green Hornet depends on The Black Beauty, an indestructible car equal parts firepower and horsepower – a veritable mobile fortress on wheels!

“As far as I’m concerned,” says Neal H. Moritz, producer of Columbia Pictures' 3D action-comedy “The Green Hornet,” “Black Beauty is the superhero of the movie.”

Just like the rest of the characters in The Green Hornet, the Black Beauty had to be cast. In the casting process, several cars auditioned, and the filmmakers were not sentimental during the process.

“We didn’t want it to be too futuristic,” says director Michel Gondry. “There was very little CG that would work for the car. We wanted it to feel real – a real car, with a real solid engine.”

When at last the Chrysler Imperial was suggested and agreed upon, it seemed like the natural choice. “The Imperial was definitely my preference from the beginning when I first got on the project,” says picture car captain Dennis McCarthy, who had worked with Moritz on the “Fast and Furious” films.

SethRogen_with_BlackBeauty
Of course, in its time, the Chrysler Imperial was the top of the line, but some 40 years have passed. During the run of “The Green Hornet” television series, the Black Beauty had custom details, including shaved-off bumpers and chrome. “We went for a little more classic look,” says McCarthy. “We left the chrome bumpers on the car, we left the chrome trim. It’s still a classic Imperial, but it has the theme of the original.”

Of course, working with a car that has been out of production for nearly fifty years can be quite a challenge – especially a car that is fully loaded with innovations and inventions that show off Kato’s bold imagination. “We definitely brought the weaponry up to date,” enthuses McCarthy. “We’ve got cool stuff, no comparison. There’s all kind of technical information and websites that show everything the car on the TV show had, and we really wanted to outdo them.”

Guns in the hood – check. Guns in the trunk – check. Guns in the doors? “That was something that was not in the TV series and was one of our biggest challenges on the whole show: the suicide doors.” McCarthy laughs. “One of the cars that was under consideration early on was a Lincoln Continental, which had suicide doors. Michel really liked those, so he asked if we could make the doors open in reverse on the front doors of the Imperial, and I said, ‘Yeah, that’s no problem at all.’ Well, it turned out to be a tremendous engineering feat to make that happen.”

But they did make it happen. Throughout the story, Kato tinkers with the Black Beauty, converting her from a classic car that perhaps made it out for the occasional Sunday spin to a fully loaded and quite suitable vehicle for the Green Hornet and his late night escapades with criminals.

Green Hornet's sting and Kato's one inch punch (top 10 movie review)

ne iDF-09982
I didn't expected that the Green Hornet movie will be full of fun and laughter, also I bow to the action sequence and chemistry duo of Seth Rogen and Jay Chou. Read up below on my top 10 movie review for The Green Hornet. - Spoiler free review powhhh! (movie opens on Jan. 19)

1. Watching Seth Rogen on screen is the same Seth Rogen I know in other movies, But I like him whenever he wears the Green Hornet mask, minus the giggle and funny grin.

2. My eyes on this film targets Jay Chou's performance, he did great as Kato and follows the Bruce Lee foot step in the Green Hornet. I'm glad that his english language and accent didn't bothered me and I have a feeling that Jay Chou's performance in the Green Hornet will land him for more movies in the US.

3. Seth Rogen and Jay Chou's tandem in the movie reminds me of RUSH HOUR of Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker

4. Saw lots of Bruce Lee tribute, especially that one inch punch that was displayed by Kato, one inch punch was developed by Bruce Lee in the martial arts scene. (saw it in Discovery channel)

5. The Black Beauty car is hot and handsome!

6. Introduction of each characters in the movie are long but strong. But this will get to know you more on the character's persona and role in the movie.

7. Hope they can do more Green Hornet and Kato scenes, for me its "bitin" and I'm still looking for some wow moment, but the gun fights and head to head combat in some scenes is just an appetizer for me.

8. Cameron Diaz is hot, when she is inside her apartment

9. I'm not really sure what will be the reaction of Green Hornet fans of the tv series, but I'm okay that the film be this kind of comedy and with hard hitting action with weird gizmos. The comedy stints can attract lots of new fans and also kids, I say that this film is aimed for new fans and for old fans to accept the new treatment of the Green Hornet.

10. "Kato vision" is cool, I'm glad that they explained how that works, thanks to adrenaline and reflexes.

11. (bonus!) Yes, Im one of the movie fans who wants to see a sequel of the Green Hornet.

I enjoy it so much that I laugh through out the movie...with Seth Rogen's funny acts and Jay Chou's pretty boy look and follow up some unexpected comedy moves with Seth.

my rate will be a 4 out of 5 dancing bananas.

Last night was the movie premiere of "The Green Hornet" in SM Megamall cinema 1, I arrived late and right on the time, a minute before the start of the movie. I met people from the movie distributors as I entered the red carpet area and got treated with this Krispy Kreme special doughnuts with the theme of Green Hornet, it was called the "Green Hornet sting doughnut" its a mint-bubble gum flavored doughnut, so sweet and has a minty after taste. And they have Yoshinoya food that serves gyudon and some beef meals. I grabbed some food and then wears my Green Hornet mask from Krispy Kreme. As I entered the cinema, my sister already prepared food for me and it was funny that I ate the rice meal inside the cinema and it was great treat ever! hahaha. I miss chomping rice meals inside the cinema.

After the movie, I met our movie bloggers and did some photo op outside the cinema and got a photo op with celebrity Sunshine Cruz, who was there with us at the Green Hornet movie premiere.

The Green Hornet movie will be shown in all 2D and 3D Philippine theaters on January 19. Thanks to Columbia Pictures for inviting us movie bloggers to all their movie premieres.

Cameron Diaz as Lenore Case in The Green Hornet movie

DF-00430_r
I didn't know that the Green Hornet team has a 3rd side kick and that's the character of Lenore Case, After reading this press release, and brand the movie as a action-comedy film, I start to have interest now in watching this movie, action with comedy will be kid friendly and easy to watch. If you add Cameron Diaz in the film, I know it will be more funnier and wacky when you see her in one scene with Seth Rogen.

read the feature below

She's an established star in genres of comedy, action and drama. Most recently heard in the role of Princess Fiona in the final installation of the enormously successful Shrek franchise, “Shrek Forever After,” Cameron Diaz now stars as the brilliant Lenore Case in Columbia Pictures' exciting new 3D action comedy “The Green Hornet.”

Directed by Michel Gondry, “The Green Hornet” revolves around Britt Reid (Seth Rogen), the son of LA’s most prominent and respected media magnate and perfectly happy to maintain a directionless existence on the party scene – until his father (Tom Wilkinson) mysteriously dies, leaving Britt his vast media empire. Striking an unlikely friendship with one of his father’s more industrious and inventive employees, Kato (Jay Chou), they see their chance to do something meaningful for the first time in their lives: fight crime. To get close to the criminals, they come up with the perfect cover: they’ll pose as criminals themselves. Protecting the law by breaking it, Britt becomes the vigilante The Green Hornet as he and Kato hit the streets.

Cameron Diaz brought the updated character of Britt Reid’s secretary to life. “I was in New York and got a call that Seth Rogen and Michel Gondry were doing “The Green Hornet.” Those two names separately were incredibly interesting to me. But hearing those names together? It made the project completely irresistible. When I thought of those two minds together, I didn't care what it was. I just had to be a part of it.”

DF-00806_r
Lenore Case was a character that was carried from the original '30s radio serial incarnation of “The Green Hornet” over into the film – in a slightly different incarnation. In the 1930s, Lenore Case was a woman ahead of her times. In 2011, Lenore is a woman of her times. “She’s smarter than both Britt and Kato put together,” laughs Diaz. “They have no idea what they’re doing, whether it’s running a newspaper or being vigilante crime-fighters. Lenore is passionate about journalism and she’s obsessed with criminology and forensics.”

“The only thing Lenore doesn’t know is that she’s the brains of the Green Hornet operation,” says producer Neal Moritz. “She’s doing the research for Britt and Kato, feeding them information. She thinks it’s because Britt needs to know all of this for the newspaper, but in reality they’re using her research to go out there and be the Green Hornet and Kato.”
Moritz says, “We were so lucky to have Cameron play Lenore. She’s obviously known for her comedy. It was easy for us to have scenes between the three of them that were not only endearing and emotional but really funny as well.”

Reflecting on the high level of collaboration that was so evident in the filming of “The Green Hornet,” Diaz says, “It’s really a great partnership and a lot of fun working with them. You’ll be on set and Michel comes in and gives the direction. Then Seth and [co-producer and co-writer] Evan Goldberg hear that and talk to Michel about a new line of dialogue. All of a sudden there’s this synergistic thing that happens – the set is a blender, all these ingredients are being poured in, you push a button, and out comes the perfect piƱa colada.”

Cameron Diaz next stars in “Bad Teacher,” also for Columbia Pictures.
